BC Standard #8

To showcse how I respect and have ineracted with this BC teacher standard I have included a short blurb that I wrote after a pro-d day recently.

I chose to do one of the suggested online Pro-D Day activities and decided on the UFLI free implementation webinar series on YouTube. Since, at the moment, I really enjoy and wish to teach a primary grade, I thought that this would be one of the better options as I’ll have to teach UFLI.

I went into these videos knowing very little about teaching UFLI, but now I can say that I’m much more confident. I learned a lot about the background, purpose, and intent of UFLI and wish that I had it when I was a kid learning how to read.

I that that it was really interesting to learn about to properly use the slide decks and the fact that they provide all of the slideshows and lessons — taking a lot of stress off of me and future lesson planning. As well, I enjoyed how they spoke about implementing UFLI and routines as it helped to ease my nerves about how to start teaching.

Those were a few of my main takeaways from this Pro-D and I’m sure that I could write more about this, but I’ll stop here.
