About Me :)

Hi, I’m Grace!

As my husband lovingly puts it, I’m a bit of a yapper and can manage to talk about almost anything for hours on end. So with that in mind, I’ll apologize now for how long this page gets.

I’m currently in the education program at UNBC all the way up North in Terrace, BC. Although I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and will always be a city girl at heart, I have absolutely fallen in love with small-town living and now call Kitimat my home.

Although I never pictured myself being a teacher when I was growing up, I can’t think of anything else that I’d rather do now. Well, besides finding a way to get paid to lay around sunbathing and reading all day. But that’s a little difficult when living so far up North and only getting 3 months of summer a year.

However, I am an avid reader and love nothing more than getting completely lost in a good book. If you ever need book recommendations or want to talk about anything book or reading-related, please reach out!

I never used to be a reader when I was younger, in fact, I hated reading so much. But with the help and support of my mom and my elementary school teachers, I learned not only to read but to love it as well. This is definitely one of my biggest factors to want to teach — I want to help kids grow to love reading, especially when they don’t like it or feel confident in their reading abilities at first.

When I’m not reading or doing school, I’m with my husband and my two dogs, Athena and Aphrodite. They are both high-energy and keep me very busy, they are the best adventure buddies I could ask for. They go with my husband and me everywhere, on road trips, camping trips, side-by-side rides, and everywhere in between.

For once I’m at a loss for words and not sure what to talk about anymore. Speaking about myself is always hard, but please check out the rest of this blog and the other posts and pages I have up! I’ve added a handful of things to showcase my views and opinions as a teacher-to-be — from unit and lesson plans, to some of my past papers and more!
